CONVENTION CENTER AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES DBE PARTICIPATION

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Convention Center Authority announced this morning that the Music City Center achieved 56.96 percent DBE participation during the third quarter of fiscal year 2014.

"Our team has done a great job of growing the DBE program and continuing the outstanding job that was done by our project team," said Charles Starks, President/CEO of the Music City Center.

The Authority also announced that the Music City Center generated over $54 million in economic impact last month. The Music City Center hosted 27 events with 87,182 attendees in April. These events generated 41,811 room nights for a total of $54.8 million in economic impact. To date, the Music City Center has generated over $180 million for fiscal year 2014. Tax collections continue to outperform projections and the Music City Center portion of tax collections was up 14.11 percent year over year for February 2014.

"We really have not slowed down since Archery Trade Association arrived on January 1," said Starks. "In April we hosted the Country Music Marathon and the NCAA Women's Final Four along with many other events that brought a large number of people to Nashville."

The Music City Center will celebrate its one-year anniversary on Tuesday, May 20.

The Music City Center, Nashville’s convention center, features a 353,143 square foot exhibit hall, the 57,500 square foot Karl F. Dean Grand Ballroom, and an 18,000 square foot Davidson Ballroom.
