FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 13, 2014
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Convention Center Authority announced this morning that the Music City Center achieved 30.82 percent DBE participation during the first six months of fiscal year 2014.
"We are off to a strong start," said Charles Starks, President/CEO of the Music City Center. "The project team did a great job securing and utilizing DBE firms and we are extremely pleased that we have been able to continue that operationally."
The Authority also announced that the Music City Center generated over $21 million in economic impact last month. The Music City Center hosted 21 events with 44,879 attendees in January. These events generated 19,977 room nights for a total of $21.73 million in economic impact. Tax collections continue to outperform projections and the Music City Center portion of tax collections was up 22.52 percent year over year for November 2013.
"January was a great month for us with some of our larger groups in such as Archery Trade Association and American Bus Association," said Starks. "Attendance numbers have been outstanding and all the public shows in the building during January had record attendance."
The Music City Center will welcome more large groups this month, such as the American Association of School Administrators and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
