MUSIC CITY CENTER ANNOUNCES APRIL NUMBERS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Convention Center Authority announced this morning that the Music City Center generated $74.9 million in economic impact during April.  

The Music City Center hosted 45 events with 89,650 attendees last month, generating 41,237 room nights for a total of $74.9 million in direct economic impact. Fiscal year-to-date the building has hosted 250 events with 418,449 attendees, generating $271.3 million in direct economic impact. Direct economic impact is defined as the amount of direct spending by planners, attendees and exhibitors who have come to Nashville to participate in an event at the Music City Center. Tax collections continue to outperform expectations and the Music City Center portion of tax collections was up 10.26 percent year over year for February, with total year-to-date tax collections up 19.63 percent over fiscal year 2016.

“We hosted 45 groups last month, 19 of which were local nonprofits,” said Charles Starks, President/CEO of Music City Center. “We are a proud supporter of the nonprofit community here in Nashville and always thankful to have the opportunity to host them at the Music City Center.”

The Convention Center Authority also announced that the Music City Center spent 47.97 percent during third quarter of fiscal year 2017 with minority, women-owned and small businesses. Additionally, the Music City Center’s contractors, LMG and Centerplate, spent a combined $598,299 with DBE firms.

The Music City Center, Nashville’s convention center, features a 353,143 square foot exhibit hall, the 57,500 square foot Karl F. Dean Grand Ballroom, and an 18,000 square foot Davidson Ballroom. The building includes an art collection featuring local and regional artists, a covered three-level parking garage with 1,800 spaces, and is LEED Gold certified. The Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame is also located inside the Music City Center at the corner of 6^th Avenue and Demonbreun.
